The marsh and areas around the marinas provide a wonderful haven for local birds, including great blue heron, little green heron, yellow crowned night heron, cattle egret, and great egret. Nearby Assateague Island -- accessible by car or boat -- provides a relaxing venue for avian fans. Or take a boat to Heron and Skimmer Islands or the southern islands of the Sinepuxent Bay Wildlife Management Area.
Go antiquing - Explore the antique shops in neighboring Berlin, where "The Runaway Bride" was filmed. While there, have a meal at the Atlantic Hotel, or the Globe Theatre.
Head to the nearby beaches - Walk to the Park & Ride and take the air-conditioned bus to the Ocean City boardwalk, beach, and amusements. For a back-to-nature beach experience, head seven miles down Route 611 to nearby Assateague Island where the wild ponies roam.
Looking for a low-key place to put your toes in the sand? Walk to the inlet at the end of the street, throw your towel on the sand and enjoy sunbathing without the crowds. Or cast your rod into the water and try to catch some fish. Bring a picnic and delight in the water view as boats cruise the inlet. During the summer months, the lights of the Ocean City ferris wheel and roller coaster illuminate the night sky.
